A Black Forest Fairy Tale
Once upon a time, in a quaint German village nestled in the Black Forest, there came a young lad raised in Cypress to board through four years of education. The lad grew to manhood, full of virtue and integrity and sensitivity, and with wisdom beyond his years. Upon graduation, he ventured out to the college of Wheaton.
Meanwhile, there was a younger lass far in the north… a maiden in our prayers since her childhood. She came to dwell in our Blauen house of girls in the mountains.
Both grew in their devotion to the King of Heaven. Eventually their paths crossed at the end of her Black Forest stay, with a special connection at a farewell dance. Conveniently the High King had already summoned her to the same college of Wheaton, and it was not long before a courtship commenced.
The young prince’s first kingdom mission was to return to the Black Forest and care for a house of young scholars. He patiently served two years while waiting for his beloved to be ready. The prince asked for the princess’ hand, she accepted, the families blessed, a ring was placed on her finger, a date was set and they wed in the month of January during the year 2010.
As in most fairytales, life has not been a bed of roses for them since that wedding day. Nevertheless, Lady Laura and Sir Andrew have discovered a deepening love developed not from the proverbial "happily ever after" kind of story, but born out of significant trials and pain. With Laura threatened by the dual dragons of chronic fatigue and anxiety disorder, together they have battled and persevered against these common foes.
Meanwhile, the Lord King continues to grow their souls closer to Him, and to each other, in a sin-poisoned world. He has led them to a round table of supportive fellowship in a culture that magnifies weddings, but which often fails to honor marriage. Gladly, they remain confident in the King’s promise of triumph (2 Cor. 2,14), and are now on their way to living “happily ever after"!
