It's already July...

Wow. It's July 12th. Where did the month of June go?

There is much cause for celebration, though, because Andrew's travel season is over. He's been away quite a bit for work representing Crossway (San Diego, St. Louis, etc) and then this past Wednesday flew to Atlanta to stand in his co-RA's wedding, which was on Friday. On Saturday, friends and I picked him up in Grand Rapids to attend our a wedding of our good friends Ted and Kate. I don't think that there is a couple on this planet that is as happy to be married as the two of them. It was so cute to see them just beaming the whole day. Ted would kiss Kate on her temple several times throughout the ceremony and Kate just had this wide-eyed smile... you could tell that they had been looking forward to this day for a very long time. We're so happy for them and it was such a beautiful and God-honoring ceremony. Ellen was a part of the House Party so pictures are coming. We got a really good one of "the Three Musketeers" (=Ellen, Andrew and myself).

July also means that my parents-in-law are in Wheaton to stay. They are now "permanently" living in the apartment above us. I say "permanently" because they still are going all over the place - places to go, people to see! I can't imagine traveling and transitioning as much as they do. I sure do love them, though.

We also got the notice that the new cabinets for our kitchen will be put in at the beginning of August. That's exciting. It's been several months now since we first sat down to design the new kitchen. Andrew and I are most excited about having a dishwasher, an oven that works, a microwave and counter space.... all the other stuff will be great, too. :0)

Ellen's back from Israel! Yay! She's the tannest I've ever seen her and I cannot believe all the pictures! "and here's where Jesus healed the man at the pool of Bethesda"... here's the garden of Gethsamane...isn't it amazing?! Oh, and this is Bethlehem, and this is the gate of Jaffa... and here we are in Thessalonia (or whatever the place is called)... and here is Hezekiah's tunnel..." (and on on and on - Ellen, I loved it! Just poking a little fun!)

And then she turns to me, "so, how has your summer been?!"
"Ah, well, I've worked, gone to church, did stuff around the house...."

Ok, more to come. These are just some of the updates since the last time I posted. I have a topic that I definitely want to share, but as for now I need to go whoop my awesome girls in Nertz!

  1. Hey, Laura,
I loved catching up with you a little bit by reading your blog. It sounds like your summer is going pretty well. I'm sorry we didn't connect before you finished at work. I ended up not getting back when expected, spending an extra 8 days in Memphis sick from our trip, then in St. Louis (was Andrew also at the convention there?), now back in Memphis due to my step-father's death last week. I have been in town only 2 days, and so I'm sorry I have missed you. Will pray about the application you have out... please keep in touch.
