Almost there - we've almost made it to Memorial Day Weekend! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with your family and friends and get a chance to rest and relax, while appreciating our troops.
As I write today, I am thinking that I have just one more week at my job. Many of you know that for the past school year (since last August), I have been working at Clapham School, a Christian Classical school that actually rents space in our church. Thinking back to last August, I am still amazed at how God just plopped this job in my lap and although aspects have been hard, His hand has been so evident. The job was a pretty perfect first job, giving me pretty great work hours, allowing me to take off extensive time for the wedding, insurance and actually working in a field in which I got my degree, Christian Education. I never really applied for this job. For eight months, I applied to forty or fifty jobs with no success and then all of a sudden out of the blue, I got a call and asked whether I would be interested to work at Clapham. The church had passed along my resume and cover letter to the school and that got everything going. I remember feeling like a bright bright cloud was over my house when I received that call. Five days later, I started working. :0) God didn't just give me anything, but something very special.
I have known now for the past few months that it would not be very likely that I would be returning to work at the school in the fall due to lack of raised funds. I have been turning in some applications and looking around for further job opportunities. So far, nothing has come up, but I am confident that God is in control and that He already has the right thing picked out. It is a matter of waiting for His timing. In the meantime, I am really looking at diving into getting a women's ministry going in our College Group for the summer as well as overseeing some of the work that needs to be done in our kitchen. Of course, there are still walls to be painted and wall paper to be stripped and I am looking forward to my parents-in-law living in the upstairs apartment permanently beginning in July. Maybe I'll finally learn how to knit from Mom Tebbe.
All this goes to say, that very soon/in just four work days from now, my life is going to change quite radically. I am going to have a lot of time on my hands and I just pray that I would use that time wisely. One of my goals is to read the Bible cover to cover. I am enjoying Genesis right now and you can pray that I will keep this goal in sight.
We would greatly appreciate your prayers for us as we're waiting for a job for myself. Also, pray for us as we are thinking about the future and waiting on the Lord to show us what He has for us and whether we are to leave Wheaton at some point or stay. We know that God's plan is best and so we want that... It is just a matter of figuring out what that is. We're praying that God would make the way very clear for us.
In the meantime, we're enjoying a little break from the heat. Andrew is going to be gone on business until Monday and so I am planning on doing lots of "frou frou/girlie girl" things, as our pastor would say. :0)
Thanks for reading and for praying!
Love,
Laura
