On Day 3

...So, what have we done so far?

Tuesday: Library to get some books. Both of us were successful. Gym for me and Andrew headed to Buswell Library to get studied up for leading Bible study. We both came home and had a leisurely evening of reading.

Wednesday: great dinner with Mom and Dad Tebbe. We brought Saga to us. I headed off to an appointment and Andrew headed to Bible Study. When we were both home we had a good chat, read and off to bed.

Thursday: Date Night! Andrew took me to York Town Mall. Burger King for him and California Rolls for me. They're pretty good, inexpensive and they make them right on the spot. I got a whole meal for under five dollars! We shopped around until Andrew had reached his limit. Went to the photo booth for the first time and took some funny, but rather scary pictures and on the way home stopped at Hobby Lobby to pick up some needed craft supply. My husband was incredibly gracious. Now I am at home and waiting for a phone call form a very very special person.

So far, I would say things are going well. :0)

One Week TV and Movie Fast

We have made a joint decision. We are going to fast from TV and movies together as a couple for the next week and then evaluate where to go from there.

The last three months have been incredibly busy and it has become so incredibly easy for us both to come home from work and plop on the couch or bed and watch something. All we want to do is relax. Well, occasionally, that is not a bad thing but it has definitely become habit for us and we are realizing some of its repercussions and so we are deciding to fast from TV and movies for a week. Instead, we hope to spend more time reading, and doing other things together like playing board games, going on walks, etc.

We'll see how it goes. If you have any ideas of fun things to do... let me know!

Little Hints of Spring...Something New

Well, here I am again and checking in. I need to reach my at least once a month quota!!!

The days are getting so much longer and every time I get home and it is still light outside, I get a big smile on my face. Tulips are beginning to come up and the other day I heard birds chirping while at work with the door open. Of course, living in Chicago, you can't just give in and say "Spring is here!" because winter leaves very slowly... just today we woke up to a light covering of snow on the ground. I can't wait to bust out the t-shirts and see more of the sun and finally bury my winter coat for the next (optimistically 9 months!).

Andrew and I have been insanely busy with both of our jobs as he has taken on new responsibilities in marketing at Crossway and the Forum for me is just around the corner. Yikes.

In the last week, I have been meditating on God's faithfulness. I remember sitting with my dear friend Rebecca a year ago and just beginning to understand the importance of God's promises. When I felt like I had lost so much, even hope, I found hope in those promises alone. It was just a little glimmer, but it was still hope and that kept me going. God promises His redemption. He promises to never leave us. Last year, the Getty's song "Every Promise that He Made" became inexplicably important. Back then, the day on which God would answer His promise in my life seemed unimaginable. And then, on Sunday in College Group, we sang that same song from the Gettys. I could not help but rejoice. God has fulfilled every promise. As new life is beginning to spring up all around, I can't help feel an anticipation of what lies ahead.

Thank you to all of you who have been so encouraging and supportive. I'm sure there will be more, but for now, I better sign off.
