Andrew is away on business once again and without a "real" job I have an awful lot of discretionary time...
In this past year, our church has been an unbelievable blessing to me. I did not think I could love a church so much. Seven wonderful leaders from college group just left after several hours worth of thrilling Nertz games. The best game ever!!! :0)
I am finding myself in a place of waiting and that is hard. Thankfully, Andrew has a wonderful job and we have wonderful supportive and encouraging parents. I have made several applications of which nothing has truly materialized. This past week I applied to a position that sounds just absolutely perfect. If you think of it, I would greatly appreciate your prayers. I deeply believe in the power of prayer.
In the past few weeks, life's road has gotten a bit bumpy again. I covet your prayers for continued peace, joy, love and contentment. Pray that my eyes and ears would be open to those around me and that in this time of waiting I would use my time usefully. Pray for strength for my mind and body to fight the lies of Satan.
Once again, God brought several more people into my life from our church body who have experienced similar situations and their encouragement goes beyond words. I am incredibly thankful to be a part of the Body of Christ.
Currently, I am reading "Hinds Feet on High Places" for our summer women's college group book study. I have a feeling that God is going to do a lot of work in my heart through that book. I am already enjoying it immensely.
Thank you so much for your prayers. They're so treasured!!!
More later.
Laura
P.S.: The Getty's song "By Faith and not by Sight" has been so incredibly encouraging in these past seven months. Especially when I begin to question and despair, I have to remind myself of those words and have faith. I need to remember and believe in God's promises. He has NEVER broken a promise!!!

A New Phase of Life has begun...
Hmm.. what should I write?
Thank you to all of you who have been praying for my job situation. I just finished my last day at Clapham and am still doing quite a few nannying hours, which are great.
The question now is: What next? I feel a certain amount of restlessness. I long to just be able to sit back peacefully and just take whatever it is that God has for you. I am finding it difficult to just sit and rest, though. I long for the days where there were always so many people around me. I loved that about my home... we always had guests over. Marco and Kristin were practically members of our family. I hope that is the case with our family one day.
I have been greatly blessed by getting to know our college pastor's family in the past seven months. Rebecca has such wisdom and I love interacting with her and her kids. They have been so gracious at letting me bum around their home and being a part of the craziness. It's refreshing.
Andrew just returned from his conference in San Diego and is heading out again next Thursday for a week. The following weekend, we are hoping to celebrate our six month anniversary. Some get-away time will be good. This summer is strange. I have never gone into a summer with out real and concrete plans. This summer is really different. I long for my heart and mind to just be at rest.
I would greatly appreciate your prayers regarding that. Pray for rest and contentment for myself. I am in great need of that.
I have a few applications out and just made another application yesterday - I'm really really hoping that that one will work out. It seems perfect in so many ways.
Thanks for taking the time to read! Hope you are all doing well!

Summer Happenings
Hi Friends,
Well, once again a few months have passed and I thought it is about time that I update again.
First off, I want to show you some incredible pictures that a friend took at our wedding. We just received the pictures this week and so I wanted to go ahead and share them with you. There are definitely some favorites in there.
Here is the church:

My beautiful sister-in-law and niece, Olivia.

Waiting with Dad to walk into the sanctuary...

Thanks for being so attentive to making my dress look perfect, K-K!

Andi most likely gleaming some wisdom from Andrew's grandma! Love it!

You never stop being your mother's son. So sweet!

Thank you so much, Danielle! These pictures are awesome! You have a real future in this!!!

Ellie, we did it!!!!!!! Thank you so so much for all of your love, encouragement and support!!!

After the ceremony, with the beautiful girls for whom I have been "governessing" (the term we decided on) for the past three years. The sweetest girls whom you could ever imagine!!!

You'll want to come to this! - Tiffany Thompson
About four years ago, Andrew told me that he had someone he really wanted me to meet. I had just arrived at Wheaton College as a freshmen and Andrew was doing a very good job of making me feel at home there. We had not yet started dating. :0) He said that her name was Tiffany Thompson and that she was absolutely incredible and a really good friend. A week or so later, he called and asked me whether he and Tiff could take me out to tea or coffee during my first full week of classes. They introduced me to La Spiaza, Wheaton's local coffee shop and a favorite hangout and study place for Wheaton students. We found a bench in Adam's Park and talked for quite a while. I loved Tiff immediately. She is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She was looking to lead a small group and I told her that I had a group of girls that were looking for a small group leader. So, a few weeks later, our suite started our small group with Tiff (and Mel) as our leader(s). My respect, appreciation and admiration of Tiffany has just continued to grow and grow as she continued to mentor me throughout college.
Tiff is just one of the most talented, godly and gifted people that you will ever meet. She now lives and works in DC. In her spare time, she pursues music with all of her heart. It's been so neat to see her grow and take on more and more challenges. I cannot wait to have her come to town in a little over a week.

She will be playing in La Spiaza on June 14th from 6:30-8:30 pm.

We were so blessed to have Tiff come to, be in and sing and play at our wedding!
